Different Types of Bus Stops in Japan
Interchange Bus Stops, found near highway interchanges, primarily serve long-distance buses traveling between cities. These stops have minimal facilities, such as small shelters or waiting areas, and are designed for quick stops, making them unsuitable for extended waits or sightseeing. Regular Bus Stops are common in urban and suburban areas, catering to local buses for short-distance travel within a city or town. They usually feature basic amenities like a signpost with a timetable and occasionally a shelter or bench, ideal for local trips to nearby attractions, shops, or restaurants. Bus Terminals & Bus Centers, larger facilities often located near major train stations or city centers, accommodate both intercity and local buses. They offer various amenities, including ticket counters, waiting areas, restrooms, and shops, serving as key hubs for transferring between different modes of transportation or starting journeys to other cities.
